Blog Giveaway : You’re Beautiful T-Shirt and 2 Books
GIVEAWAY CLOSED!

These days, young girls are feeling the pressure of our society’s stereotypical view of beauty. The majority of girls (seven in ten) feel they do not measure up in some way including their looks, performance in school and relationships. The added pressure results in some girls with low self-esteem engaging in harmful and destructive behavior that can leave a lasting imprint on their lives. As parents, we can play our part to help by educating our children that there is a wider and healthier definition of real beauty.
In response to the self-esteem crisis, Dove Self Esteem Fund was launched to bring self-esteem programming to girls across the country and to encourage everyone to make a difference in the lives of girls. With a goal to reach 5 million girls globally by 2010 through its self-esteem programming, let’s help Dove by supporting and promoting a wider definition of beauty, either through your blog or through educating your children.
Moms and mentors can start boosting a girl’s self esteem right now by visiting www.campaignforrealbeauty.com to download the following free self-esteem building tools:
-
True You and Mirror, Mirror booklets

I am so happy that Dove is doing this. I love their videos and the way they are reaching out to girls. . . I’ve worked with kids for about twenty years now, and counseled so many beautiful girls who want to be different than the way God created them. We need to tell them they are beautiful just the way they are!

I think that this campaign is fantastic, we need to show our daughters that life is more than what they look like or how much they weigh, it’s about how great they are on the inside!
November 17th, 2008 at 7:17 am
This is definitely I want my daughter to learn at an young age!
November 18th, 2008 at 4:18 am
This is a great message to send out to girls. It’s the inside that counts, and we all tend to forget that:)

This is a fantastic idea. As a high school teacher, I highly recommend these activities. I have a daughter who is 12 and I plan to use them for her.
November 24th, 2008 at 3:34 am
Great Idea.. We as women and our children do not remember on a daily basis that we are beautiful.
November 24th, 2008 at 1:13 pm

Great Campaign. I have two pre-teens and this is such an issue with girls and trying so hard to be like the TV women.
November 25th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
This is wonderful! I think that girls and women should be happy with themselves and that our culture should begin to emphasize that more!
November 25th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
This is an awesome campaign. Marketing has made it seem like ideal is rail thin. Marilyn Monroe would be considered fat! But, not so long ago she was a sex symbol! Whatever you are you are beautiful!
November 25th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
I think that this campaign is the best thing I have ever heard about. It is so great that a company like Dove realizes that girl’s in today’s world face a lot of challenges and is doing something to help.
